ABOUT
Johannes Romppanen is a documentary and portrait photographer. In his portraits, he captures his subjects with a warmth and intimacy. There is a sense of companionship between the seer and the seen, the distance separating the two not remaining an empty space. As with all good portrait photographers, he has an immediate, instinctive ability to empathise with his subjects. As he describes it himself, he then waits for those 'off-camera' moments when you can see behind the façade and present a more honest insight into the subject.
